Recorder: lessons at Music Campus München

Learning the recorder is a wonderful way into the world of music. The instrument is small but has a big sound, and it is one of the most versatile instruments there is. In recorder lessons at Music Campus München, you learn key basics like rhythm, ear training, breathing technique and finger dexterity in a playful way. And the recorder doesn't just sound bright and friendly: it can also be surprisingly warm, soft and expressive.

Many people think of the recorder as a beginner's instrument, but it can do much more than simple children's songs. In recorder lessons in München, you discover how virtuosic and musical this instrument can be. The recorder is a fully fledged instrument that plays an important role in classical and baroque music in particular, and in modern arrangements too. At the same time, recorder lessons are the perfect foundation for moving on later to other woodwinds such as the flute, clarinet or saxophone. Anyone who learns the recorder develops musical skills that last a lifetime.

One song,
fingering by fingering.

This is how children learn the recorder, with us in German fingering: the golden rings show which holes to close. The thumb hole “T” is at the back. Tap the holes, then blow: hold the button, tap the mouthpiece or press the space bar. Every correct note moves the song forward.

Lessons in detail

How your recorder lessons work.

The first lessons

Calm breathing, a soft attack and your first fingerings with the left hand. Just a few notes are enough for your first children's songs.

Over time

Then the right hand joins in, and later overblowing into the higher notes. Reading music, rhythm and playing together grow along with it, from baroque and classical to folk and film music.

For kids and adults

Children can start from around age 4; the recorder is an ideal first step into the world of instruments. Adults are rediscovering it too, for baroque and Renaissance music, for example.

Practising at home

A wooden or plastic soprano recorder is all you need to start. A few minutes a day is enough to make your fingerings and breathing secure.
