Percussion: lessons at Music Campus München

Percussion covers many rhythm instruments from around the world: cajón, congas, bongos, shakers and more. In percussion lessons at Music Campus München you learn different rhythms and grooves and play them with your hands, directly and with lots of energy.

Playing together especially develops your sense of rhythm and ensemble skills. Whether Latin, pop, funk or world music, percussion brings movement into any music and fits into a band as well as next to a guitar by the campfire. Percussion is great for kids, teenagers and adults.

Hands on the
conga.

Two drums, three strokes: bass in the centre, slap in the middle ring, the open tone at the edge. Tap the heads or use the keys. In tumbao mode you play the basic conga rhythm along with the shaker; the glowing spot shows you the next stroke.

Lessons in detail

How your percussion lessons work.

The first lessons

Basic strokes on cajón and congas, a steady pulse and your first simple grooves. After a short time you are already playing along to songs.

Over time

Rhythms from Latin, pop and world music, hand technique and dynamics, fills and improvisation. Plus playing together with others, in a band or a workshop.

For kids and adults

Children from age 6 quickly feel successful because they play directly with their hands. Adults love percussion as a lively balance to everyday life.

Practising at home

To begin with, a cajón or a pair of bongos is often enough. Your teacher shows you short exercises that make your timing more secure every day.
